I don't think they could book with our group, but if it is cheaper they could just book space on the same cruise.

Since we can't make it to MGE2, we're already counting down the days to MGE3. Can't wait!

So, as the time gets closer, will you start a thread with tips for us cruise newbies?

We could do that. If any of those newbies have a question, post it to have it answered!

What's your favorite color?
Why do they call them tan lines when it's the part that isn't tan?
Have you seen Nemo?

okay - here's my first question. Actually, you answered some of it the other day for me, but I want to know more.
I understand that there are 2 meal times - early and late. But what about the shows/entertainment? Are there multiple opportunities in a day to see them? Or just once a day and if you miss it, too bad?

There's two showings of the main nightly shows that happen to be at the same time as the dinners. Basically, if you eat early, you see the show after dinner. Late, you see the show before dinner.

Okay - good to know.
Now - question about restaurants.
I think I understand the rotation, and that some nights are dressier than others, regardless of the restaurant you are in. I also understand the Palo "extra". But, if you decide to skip a restaurant one night and maybe eat by the pool (or whatever), you still stay on schedule for the rest of the trip right??
Seems logical, but thought it was worth asking.

I've also got some general questions about the cruise.
I was doing some math and figured that for the Cat. 11 stateroom, it would be about $900 per person. So how much would you say would be needed for "pocket cash" to pay for meals, and souvenirs and things. Also, do the shows require extra admission or reservation? I know the theme park shows don't, but again, when it comes to cruises, it's a whole new world to me. (Aladdin reference intended).

To answer Kathy's question, yes. If you skip one night, the next night you go to the restaurant you are supposed to go to for that night.
For Jake, luckily the only thing you really need extra cash for is alcohol and souvenirs. Soda and other non-alchy beverages are free at meals and at the little drink station by the kiddy pool. I think you'll have to pay for soda at the bars, though, unless they changed that.
Nothing on the boat requires paying for extra admission. The movies, nighttime shows, and whatever entertainment is on board is all included in the cost.
The only things you have to make reservations for are Palo, the wine tasting or beer tasting, and the gally tour. Palo is only a $10 charge, last I checked, not including alcohol, and the others, I think, are free. We might want to check on that, though.
Everything on the boat, you can charge to your Key to the World card and get the bill at the end of the trip.
You will need cash at ports of call, though. They don't take Disney dollars. They sometimes take Visa, though. It all depends on how much you plan to do off the boat. Since Ma and I have already done the Eastern cruise, we'll probably stay close to the boat and save money.

One caveat to Dan's response to Jake - you will need money for tips. Lots of tips. Everyone on the ship gets one....your stateroom attendent (maid), head server, assistant server, best friend of the assistant server's neighbor's cousin, etc.
Here is one website's guide to tipping: http://www.disneycruiser.info/tips.htm
As to Kathy's question- sure, you can eat near the pool, but you'd really be shorting yourself a good meal. The poolside hot dogs and pizza aren't nearly the meal you'd enjoy at one of the rotation restaurants.

Glad you brought up the tipping. While I haven't 'Ocean Cruised', I have 'River Cruised' - and the tipping is a big deal. I'll have to read up on the tipping guide to see what their preferred practice is.
Eric - not likely I will eat by the pool, just wondering how it worked if I chose to skip a meal one night. Sometimes all the food is just too much!

Yeah, I've heard of tipping on cruises. I was thinking like about $300 to $400 for food, tips, souvenirs, and off-ship activities would be good.
